Oops! Whether it's wine, an accident from the family pet, or artwork paint from your kids, it seems impossible to keep your carpets clean. Here are some tips from the experts at Snyder's Flooring on how to keep your carpets looking great.
Before You Start
To remove a stain, simply blot to dry the spot, working from the outside in. Rinse thoroughly with clean water, then blot again. Never scrub the spot! You run the risk of ruining the carpet fibers or letting the spill soak through to the carpet pad. Try to identify the type of stain you are dealing with, whether it be a water-soluble stain or a special water-soluble stain.
Water-Soluble Stains include:
- alcoholic beverages
- soda
- food dyes
- gravy
- ice cream
- jelly
- milk
- mud
- washable ink
- paint
Special Water-Soluble Stains include:
- blood
- chocolate
- coffee
- mustard
- tea
- vomit
- wine
